Dvorak
Lewis P
Uneasy Silence

wow. that's all i gotta say. if this is true, it'll probably be the biggest thing since watergate and michael bolton's songs..
time travel

so cool. we should have thought about this sooner. but had it been any earlier, it would have been quickly dismissed as a prank. nowadays i think people are a bit more open minded.

crap

This is so embarrassing. Regardless of who is at fault, or the cause of the meelee, it is just plain embarrassing. Some notes: there are a lot of racist foreigners, there are a lot of racist Indonesians.
Notes to myself: if ever I get into an argument for my son or daughter, I hope I can keep a cool head and not resort to violence or name calling or any other low form of expression.

A bit of curio, how can a person who claims to be a Nationalist, prides himself of being Indonesian, put his son to go to an International School. The Jakarta International School at that. Can you not find a more bourgeois school? There are other better "English speaking" schools in Jakarta that are more nationalistic.

Jeez, I still cant get over how embarrassing this is. Unfortunatly for him, he will have to bear the consequences of SBY's policies and wrath.

sheesh....

race a definition...

the link above i guess shows that race is more of a sociological construct than anything else. i think it also is because we have become a more heterogenic society with more cross breeding as transport technology has progressed. so then at one point, when we have all cross bred and have become a civilization of partial breeds, then we will have become a homogenic society.

at that point, what will the role of tradition, heritage and culture play? what will happen to the "mother tongue" ? will that be more of an issue on where you live, and not what your geneaology is? isnt that already happening?

hmmmm.....

oh, one more thing, ive been looking at a pyramid scheme that some people have been touting. man, it really looks enticing. except that i'll be the guy at the bottom feeding the guys up top who do very very little.
no wonder its illegal in some countries.

but they have ways to get around that i guess. all you have to do is provide a receipt for "services rendered" and you are now a consultant. i wonder how they pay taxes. its not a steady source of income is it ? i guess it is.

i suddenly remember this guy on tv in the US who tried that "i can teach you how to make a lot of money right from your own home" line. last i heard that guy was bankrupt and indicted on a pyramid scheme accusation.

i suddenly have the urge to search up on this topic....
uggghhhhhh..... sooooo many things to write about, so little time and so much laziness...
things i want to write about :
- personal space and lack of it. sheesh... i was standing in line for something and this guy kept inching up to me. i didnt appreciate it at all. gotta give a guy some space ...
- which side of the road do you drive on? left or right? which side of the sidewalk do you walk on? which side of the stairs do you climb up on? i hate it when i have to zig and zag when people walk on different sides of the path. shouldn't there be some common ettiquette on how to walk on sidewalks....
- small plane seats on long flights. airline people need to wake up and realize that people are getting bigger. i think the statistics on body mechanics need to be readdressed.
- can we also take a look at the BMI index as well ? I mean why are asians (actually isnt the race 'mongoloid') put in a different category than europeans (caucasians) ? the diets of people around the worlds are now almost similar thanks to McDonalds and Starbucks, 2 champions of globalization.
- speaking of 'race', according to this race is more of a sociological distinction. and has almost no biological merit. every homo sapien has the same biological potential. to get sick, healthy, fat, diseased, whatever. that a certain sociological group of homo sapiens have the propensity to be small, or large or whatever may be due to surroundings, culture etc. so if you take that individual (say from very young) out of its regular surroundings and put it into a different group, that individual would obviously adapt to its new surroundings. it happens all the time right ?

thats enough for tonight.... ive got so many things i want to do and write about but time is always an issue.... even as i write this beside my sleeping spouse.
just so that i write this down: i want to preserve my family pictures. i want to start reading up on the new horizons of technology to keep up, i want to go out and take more pictures, i want to go and take pictures of the stars, the planets, the moons. i want to go camping again. i want to read more books (real literature to counter my current dosage of pop novels). i want to be able to spend more time with my family....

sheesh...

...and would you like a salad with your CO, SO2 ?

On the way to return a rented movie (Big Trouble, Tim Allen, if you must know), I passed by a strip mall of sorts. You know the kind, various eating joints, with outdoor seating, candle lights etc. Right next to the outdoor seating, is the car park (parking lot).
Some really smart guy, left his two little kids (age around 6-7) inside the car (Volvo XC90), windows rolled up with the engine on as well as the AC. It was around 7:45 in the evening, it wasn't too hot outside, but very similar to a warm summer night in the higher latitudes.
Now, I've tried to sleep in a car that had the AC on and its engine on. I couldn't. Because I was deathly afraid of dying of CO from the car. I was about 17 at the time. During those years I had read so many magazine articles about couple dying inside a car, dying of carbon monoxide poisoning. What had happened is that these couple after "doing the deed", would fall asleep in the backseat of the car (AC on, engine on, windows rolled up).
So I guess, I'm a little paranoid.
In any case, in some countries, it is illegal, to leave your children unattended in a vehicle.
Especially when the windows are rolled up, regardless of the AC being on or off.
Especially when the engine is on. ("oops sorry dad, i didnt mean to kick the gear in reverse and run over that nice man who was eating dinner.")

The other issue that I have with this scenario, is that there is a restaurant and there are *people eating* on the back end of this car!!!!! (it was parked head facing out, with its tail towards the restaurant)
I don't care how efficient the burn cycle is of the engine, as long as it is using carbon based fuels (petrochemical based), it will be spewing out CO, SO2, and God knows what else. Its bad enough that we have to inhale this crap every day, every night, but to also injest it at the same time ? From our food, water, wine, salad, entree, desert ??

Sheesh.
I can imagine the discourse between myself and the driver of the car. "It was only for 5 minutes to return a video". "Mind your own business". "The people inhaling the exhaust of my car don't seem to mind".
i'm pasting a googled eye smiley here.

cheers.

today is CNY (Chinese New Year). I have a very sore throat. My doctor says I have very swollen tonsils and it seems to be caused by some sort of infection.

Great.

anyway, i'm spending this day scanning the hundreds (if not thousands) of slides and negatives. digitally preserving them for my son and daughter.

I took my digital camera to the shop on Monday. its been bugging me for quite some time. I know some people are laughing at me coz of it. "Get a C*N*N".
No thanks....

My Celestar 8 finally arrived. Purchased in '99. Box opened in '03. Finally used in '05. Now I can go and take closer shots of the moon. Well gotta wait for the DigCam to get back from the shop....

Gerakan Bawah Tanah - Mr. GBT: How to test programming capability?

ha! this was an interesting site for me ... the comment by anonymous really got me thinking... right now its still considered cream of the crop coz its a favorite uni. but once the other uni's get better lab equipment, get better funding while the cream of the crop uni is busy resting on its laurels.... then no longer shall it be considered the cream of the crop uni...and it certainly will be the cheapest of the crop.... wakakakakakakak :D
